RESCUE GROUPS IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY UNITE WITH NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS TO HELP MORE ANIMALS

SPRING, Texas, September 11, 2015 – Target Zero is hosting a town hall meeting Tuesday, September 15th from 6:30pm-8:00pm in the Commissioner Courtroom in Conroe.  The goal is to bring in people who are interested in reducing animal shelter intake and increasing the number of animals saved in Montgomery County and surrounding areas.

“We work nonstop saving animals lives at our shelters, but sadly, hundreds  continue to flow in and we are unable to save them all,” explains Kathy Joslyn, President of Animal Shelter Volunteers of Texas (ASVT).  “By working together with Target Zero we have hope and the opportunity to improve and make a positive difference for Montgomery County animals.  PLEASE JOIN US!!!!”

The Animal Shelter Volunteers of Texas, the Bruce Kapp Memorial Animal Fund, Operation Pets Alive, Texas Litter Control,  the Montgomery County Spay Neuter Project, and the Montgomery County officials are working together to bring Target Zero to present.  Target Zero will be hosting the meeting Tuesday and then evaluating our local shelter for the rest of the visit.  The idea is not to criticize but to see what sort of programs our community can implement that have worked in other counties and cities.

“Target Zero’s approach brings the rescue community together to work toward a common goal.  Most of the animal welfare organizations work in sort of a bubble,” describes Deana Sellens, President of Texas Litter Control.  “Everyone is always overwhelmed and in constant damage control.  The entire community and more importantly, the animals will benefit tremendously by all of us taking a step back and working on proactive measures.”

“I am thrilled that we have Target Zero coming to help us implement the no kill strategies that have worked in so many communities across the United States. I am also proud that Montgomery County has chosen to lead the way in the Greater Houston area,” explains Shirley Cusack, long time Animal Welfare Volunteer.

Mark your calendar to attend a free Town Hall meeting on Tuesday September 15th from 6:30-8:00 pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend, please share this invitation with your animal welfare friends!
