rider thrown from horse-critically injured

At 10:30 Sunday morning a Hispanic male training a race horse was thrown and critically injured. The yet unidentified male was at the training track on Portman Road just off Firetower. He had left the gate and ridden approximately sixty yards when he was thrown over the rail. The rider was equiped with a protective vest and a helmet but when MCHD and New Caney firefighters arrived CPR was in progress.

He has been transported to Hermann Hospital in the Woodlands.

This is the second accident at this location in less than 9 months. The last one on October 17, 2010 resulted in the death of the rider who was also thrown in approximately the same area.
