On Monday, December 2, 2024, Precinct 4 Deputies responded to a distressing call from a family traveling northbound on Highway 59 near Porter, Texas. The family reported that the driver of a black Dodge truck engaged in aggressive and threatening behavior.
According to the victims, the suspect was yelling and cursing at them, causing the family— a father, mother, and young child—to fear for their safety. When the father responded to the suspect, the man brandished a pistol and ordered them to pull over. Fearing for their lives, the family slowed down and distanced themselves from the aggressor.
One of the family members managed to record some of the incident on a cell phone, capturing not only the suspect’s actions but also the description of the man, his vehicle, and the license plate.
Deputies quickly acted on the information, locating the suspect, identified as 55-year-old Jeffrey Haley, at his residence in New Caney. Following an investigation, Haley was taken into custody and charged with second-degree felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Constable Hayden stated: “This case highlights the importance of staying calm under pressure and providing accurate details to law enforcement. Thanks to this family’s cooperation and our deputies’ diligent work, we were able to make the arrest, ensuring the safety of our community is our top priority, and we will not tolerate acts of violence or intimidation on our roadways.”
