During the early evening hours of February 6th 2017, deputies from Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded to the Target store located at 19500 North Freeway in reference to a Theft in progress call where a loss prevention officer was reported to have been injured while attempting to detain a female suspect. When the responding units arrived they learned that there were actually two females. One of the suspects was located in the parking lot and detained without incident. The second female was being detained in the store by loss prevention.
Deputies were advised that the females were actually a mother and daughter that had entered the store and through surveillance were both observed placing numerous items in a shopping basket. The pair was then observed pushing the loaded basket pass the checkout counters and towards the store exit without paying. After passing all points of sale Target Loss Prevention officers attempted to stop the suspects. The daughter was detained without incident but the mother began throwing items from the basket at loss prevention officers as they detained the daughter. The mother then approached one of the store officers and struck her in the face. The mother fled to the parking lot and her parked car where she was approached by deputies before she could leave.
“The mother, identified as Xiomara Quintanilla, was arrested at the scene on robbery charges. She was booked into the Harris County Jail with a $10,000.00 bond and is currently in jail and awaiting trial. The daughter, identified as Jennifer Quintanilla, was arrested at the scene on theft charges. She was booked into Harris County Jail and later release on a $500.00 bond and is currently awaiting trial.” – Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman.
