The Salvation Army is minus one volunteer after her felony theft arrest for stealing from the Walmart Supercenter on US 59 in Porter where she was assigned to stand near the entrance and collect money for the charity.
Around 3:30 p.m. Monday, a Precinct 4 Deputy Constable responded to the Porter Walmart where loss prevention employees detained a woman after witnessing her concealing merchandise in her Salvation Army apron and walking out of the store, past all points of sale.
She had multiple bottles of cologne and perfume concealed on her person, valued at a total of over $70. Because she had two or more prior theft convictions, the charge was automatically enhanced.
Royal Jean Shields, 56, of Conroe is charged with state jail felony Theft, more than $50, but less than $500 with two prior convictions.
