Once again Game Wardens and Precinct 1 Deputy Constables have spent the day on Lake Conroe searching for the two victims from Friday’s double drowning accident. The volunteer divers went into the water several times today to check objects underwater found by sonar. The bottom of Lake Conroe is littered with many objects. There are several hundred tires, a 34-foot cabin cruiser, tractor-trailers, and even a bulldozer left behind from the ’60s during the building of the lake. Crews have been using the side-scan sonar in the search. Objects thought to be a victim is then marked and a diver goes in the water to verify what the object is. The crews missed Mothers Day as they hoped to make recovery today. During today’s operations, other crews had to respond to a capsized boat with three onboard. There were no injuries in that incident and unlike the pair missing these victims had life vests on. The search will continue Monday.
