PRESS RELEASE FROM LIBERTY COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
At approximately 3:00p.m. today the search for Dennis Rogers in Liberty County has been suspended. Due to severe weather, flooding, high winds, hail and lightening, all air and ground operations have been suspended.
It has yet to be determined when or if a search may be re-initiated for Mr. Rogers.
In the course of this search, due to high water, mud and fallen trees, some vehicles, ATV’s and horses had to pulled from the deep waters and mud. Crews who had been actively searching for Mr. Rogers since Thursday evening at approximately 8:00p.m. were exhausted as were some of the K-9’s brought in to assist in the search.
Air support was sporadic due to the severe weather over the last 72hrs. and was completely impossible today. A sonar device arrived, however, could not be deployed due to the weather.
At times there were over 150 persons assisting in this search. Numerous Volunteer Fire Fighters and Citizens from as far away as Huntsville, Lufkin and Alvin assisted in this search over the last four days. Many searchers were from Montgomery County area Fire Departments as well as members of the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
