SECEND AMTRAK CRASH AS SAME CROSSING IN LESS THAN 4 MONTHS

Just after 1pm, Liberty County Sheriff’s Office received a call for a train crash on County Road 621 in Dayton, Texas. Units arrived on the scene to find an Amtrak Train with 78 passengers and 12 crew members on board. The train going from Houston to Beaumont slammed into a Texcom Concrete truck which failed to yield to the non signaled crossing. The driver of truck was taken to Hermann Memorial Northeast in Humble in stable condition. One passenger was transported for a medical condition. DPS is working the crash. This is the second Amtrak Crash in several months at the same crossing. The last one on August 30, 2019. That train going from Houston to New Orleans had 18 injuries.
