Brandy Weeks Nichols, age 35 died shortly after 5:00a.m. Monday morning from injuries sustained in an automobile accident the afternoon of November 11, 2010 at Whipporwill and SH105.Nichols was eastbound on SH105 in her Ford Escape shortly after a brief rain storm with her grandmother, 80-year-old Joanna Lindemood and her daughter 7-year-old Emily Nichols when they were struck head-on.
Her grandmother passed away on the scene of the crash. Brandy and her daughter were both flown by Air Medical helicopters to Houston’s Hermann Hospital. Emily doing well after a second surgery to repair a severe laceration to her leg when the seatbelt cut into her.
The pickup truck driven by 58-year-old Oscar Mendoza of Conroe and his 21-year-old son Raul were westbound on SH105 at the time of the accident. According to witnesses he entered the intersection at normal speed when his truck started sliding sideways. He missed striking one vehicle before striking Nichols SUV. They were transported to Conroe Regional Hospital in stable condition.
Sadly it was almost exactly 15 years to the day that Brandy’s step-sister Trisha died in an automobile accident when she and a friend were struck. The vehicle she was a passenger in was the type where the seat belt was part of the door and retracted as the door closed. Her injuries were caused by that seatbelt.
