SEVERE STORMS POSSIBLE SATURDAY

A cold front will cross the area late Saturday and Saturday night. The front will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to mainly the northeast half of the region.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible late Saturday into Saturday evening
as a cold front crosses the area. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the northeast half of the area in a Slight Risk for severe storms on Saturday with a Marginal Risk for severe storms to the southwest of the Slight Risk outlook. The primary severe weather hazards will be damaging winds and isolated tornadoes. The system is fast-moving and heavy rain is not expected. A temperature inversion or “cap” will be in place on Saturday and this could limit the development of storms if the cap fails to erode.
