Severe weather hit the Montgomery County area this evening with power outages, fires, many lightning strikes and heavy rains. The first area to get hit early in the evening was just east of Lake Conroe where high winds and hail were reported.
Conroe Fire Department responded to the Outlet Mall on League Line Road when the Nike store and adjoining stores reported a fire. Firefighters found no fire but wires and contactors were burned forcing power to be disconnected from the three buildings.
A home in Roman Forest was struck as was one in west county.
River Plantation Fire Department responded to power lines down on Stidham Road and Caney Creek Fire Department responded to a tree on fire after being struck by lightning on Red Leaf Lane near Leafy in the Grangerland area.
A hail alert was issued for the Willis area but there were few reports of it.
October was a dry month for most.
