Here is NWS Houston/Galveston’s latest thinking on possible squall line moving through the area Tuesday.
– Scattered showers/thunderstorms possible early morning hours. Monitor for severe but threat should be lower compared to expected squall line to move into the area.
– Squall line to move through the area mainly from 6AM through 3PM. This has the greatest potential to produce damaging winds and tornadoes. Confidence in the squall line occurring is high but severe weather threat is still at 15% or SPC slight risk. Higher risk will be east of the area over Louisiana.
– Heavy rainfall still possible. Mainly 1-3″ of rain area wide but best chance for higher rainfall will be north and east of Houston. Need to monitor for any storms that could produce 1-2″ of rain in an hour. This could mean isolated amounts of 4-6″ of rain but confidence is low. Higher confidence of 2-3″ of rainfall.
