RE: FLASH FLOOD WARNING EXTENDED
The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office was just notified by the National Weather Service that a FLASH FLOOD WARNING has been extended until 5:30 AM.
This warning is due to the cold front is advancing southward and is expecting to stall over northern Grimes County and surrounding areas. With these expected conditions and previous heavy rainfall, This will cause road conditions to become worse.
The Sheriff’s Office urges everyone to stay off the roadway and if currently traveling to stop at a safe location until the weather passes through the area. If encountering water over the roadway, TURN AROUND – DON’T DROWN and notify the Sheriff’s Office immediately of water over the roadway.

RE: Road Closures due to hazardous weather
The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office urges everyone to stay off roadways due to hazardous conditions as a strong cold front advances southward through our area.
Due to heavy amounts of rain associated with this front, The following roads are currently closed due to high water over the roadway:
State Highway 90 North at Grimes / Madison County line
FM 1696 & CR. 119 (Bedias)
** Please DO NOT attempt to cross through closed roads or high water for your own safety**
High Water was reported to also be at the following locations:
FM 2620 & CR 146 (Hopewell Road) (Bedias)
FM 244 & Jubilee Trail (Iola)
Keep in mind that as the line of storms continues south it will bring heavy rain to the central and south areas of Grimes County. Also, be advised that TX DOT and Grimes County Road & Bridge Officials are currently monitoring road conditions
