Friday evening a silver Mercedes was traveling westbound on SH 242 when for what is believed to be a medical condition the driver crossed the center line striking an eastbound septic tank truck. The impact was so great that it tore into the side of the truck ripping the axles from the frame of the truck. The driver was transported to the hospital in stable condition after having to be cut out of the vehicle by Needham Fire Department. SH 242 was closed for several hours as heavy duty wreckers from Charlie Miller and Saddle Creek worked to secure the driveshaft and axles and removed the loaded truck from the scene. In addition to the damage to the truck, a large gouge was torn in the road from the truck after the crash. The driver of the truck said he saw the vehicle cross the line at highway speed and tried to avoid the collision but was unable to. He was not injured.
