On Saturday, October 26, 2024, at approximately 11:39 pm, Joel Garcia was operating a white 2014 Nissan Rogue. Joel Garcia was traveling southbound in the 22900 block of State Highway 249 main lanes. At the same time, Yunior Rodriguez Armesto was traveling westbound crossing the southbound main lanes of the 22900 block of State Highway 249. Yunior Rodriguez Armesto failed to yield the right of way and was struck by Joel Garcia. Yunior Rodriguez Armesto was pronounced deceased on the scene. Joel Garcia remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Joel Garcia did not show any signs of intoxication. This case remains under investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division
