A 25-year-old Shepherd woman was flown to Hermann Hospital in Houston Wednesday night with a possible head injury.
Just after 9:00p.m. Cleveland Police and Fire responded to the accident on US 59 southbound just south of SH105. When they arrived on the scene they found an 18-wheeler had struck a recliner which ad fallen off an unidentified vehicle. Most of the recliner wedged under the frame of the truck. The remaining was deposited on the freeway and then struck by the motorcycle causing it to lay on it’s side.
The female rider who was wearing a helmet did lose consciousness for a short time and thinking it could be a head injury the decision was to fly her. Her other injuries appeared minor in nature.
The motorcycle was damaged but not extensively. However Cleveland Fire Fighters had to assist the 18-wheeler driver in clearing the framework. US 59 was closed for almost an hour as the accident was investigated and the highway cleared.
