SHERIFF’S OFFICE ASKING FOR PUBLIC’S HELP TO IDENTIFY SUSPECTS IN ASSAULT ON DEPUTY-

POI Still #1On Saturday, December 10, 2016, at approximately 6:50 PM, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division were dispatched to a robbery that had occurred at the Summer Hills Food Mart located in the 24200 block of Sorters Road, in Porter, Texas.

It was discovered that the deputy had stopped at the location to pick up several bags of ice for a hunting trip.  After the off-duty had purchased the ice, proceeded to his vehicle, and was putting the ice in an ice chest, a male, accompanied by another male, quickly approached the complainant and struck him on his head/jaw. The two males then continued to assault the complainant in what was described as a robbery attempt. The complainant’s wife, who was in the truck, hearing what was occurring, proceeded toward the suspects with a handgun. After a confrontation, the complainant’s wife and the deputy did discharge their weapons at the suspects and the suspect vehicle. Units from several agencies attempted to locate the suspects and suspect vehicle with no success.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigators, representatives from the Texas Rangers, and representatives from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office arrived at the location to investigate. The investigation is on-going.

After a continued investigation, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Detectives now believe a third male suspect was inside the suspect vehicle during the above listed assault.
