SHOOTER ARRESTED

On Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at approximately 8:00 PM, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to an apartment complex in the 24000 block of Richards Road, Park at Woodlands Springs, in reference to numerous “911” calls reporting shots fired at a disturbance.

Upon Deputies arrival, they discovered a juvenile male with a gunshot wound to his arm. Emergency Medical Services were summoned and the scene was secured. It was reported that a group of males proceeded to the apartment complex. One of the males in that group wanted to confront a juvenile resident inside the apartment complex, in reference to a female associate the two knew. This group proceeded outside of the apartment and attempted to summon the juvenile resident outside. The mother of the juvenile, which was inside the apartment, came outside with her son and confronted the group of males. There was a confrontation outside the apartment, which then turned physical. Witnesses at the scene reported that the male that arrived to confront the juvenile resident brandished a handgun, discharging it at the mother and son. One of the discharged rounds struck the juvenile resident in the arm. During the altercation, the mother of the injured juvenile brandished a handgun and started to return fire, striking no one. The injured 16 year old and his mother retreated back into the apartment. The injured 16 year old then retrieved another gun from inside the apartment, opening fire through the apartment door striking no one. The shooter and group that arrived with him fled the scene, reportedly leaving the apartment complex.

The injured juvenile was transported by ambulance to a hospital for evaluation and treatment. The injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Units, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigators, and Deputies from the Montgomery County Gang Task Force responded to the location to conduct an investigation. Since the alleged shooter at the disturbance was known by the injured juvenile, the identity of the suspect was discovered. Montgomery County Major Crimes Investigators and Deputies from the Gang Task Force were able to locate the suspect at another location. The suspect was detained without incident and was later arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
