Shooting in The Woodlands

SOUTH MONTGOMERY COUNTY- Police are searching for an unidentified gunman who shot a local business owner around 9:30 p.m. Sunday night in the parking area of the Parkside Apartments, located at 10600 Six Pines Drive in The Woodlands.

The victim, 40-year-old Mukomer “Manny” Bekiri, arrived at the complex with passenger, 39-year-old Alicia Leach and parked his yellow Porsche in a slot near the ungated entrance. According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, when the pair emerged from the car, a man approached them and “demanded money at gunpoint.”

Bekiri and Leach complied with the gunman’s demand but Bekiri was shot anyway, with one bullet striking his abdomen. MCHD radio transmissions at the time of transport indicated there was an entry and an exit wound. Leach was not harmed.

The shooter fled on foot through the complex and disappeared into the night.

MCHD Medics loaded Bekiri into an ambulance and were en route to Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands, but the facility did not have a thoracic surgeon on duty, so they were forced to divert to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston’s Texas Medical Center.

Bekiri, the owner of Brother’s Pizzeria in the Grogan’s Mill Village Shopping Center, is in stable condition according to the MCSO.
