MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX- Around 1 p.m., Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Gulf Coast Violent Offender Task Force arrested 20-year-old Mark Anthony Crooms, Jr. in the 400 block of South Bender in Humble. Crooms is charged with the first-degree felony Murder of John Dennis Holmes, III. Deputies transported Crooms to the Montgomery County Jail in Conroe for booking. The case will be heard in the 9th District Court. Bond info was not available as of this posting.
Detectives continue to investigate the exact circumstances surrounding the murder; however, they have established this was an incident between two people who were acquainted and had a history and there is no threat to public safety.
Various law enforcement agencies, including The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Detectives, The Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, Montgomery County SWAT, Gang Task Force Detectives, Crime Scene Investigators, Real Time Crime Center, The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Humble Police Department, and various other partners in Harris County, collaborated to apprehend the suspect.
