CONROE — An off-duty Conroe Police sergeant shot and killed a shoplifting suspect after a physical altercation Wednesday night.
The sergeant was apparently going to Walmart on N. Loop 336 in his personal vehicle when he saw the store’s Loss Prevention Officer attempting to stop a suspect. The sergeant asked the loss prevention officer if he needed help, then began to pursue the suspect.
The suspect ran into a wooded area near Walmart and the sergeant followed. A physical struggle ensued and the suspect began trying to choke the sergeant, who then fired one shot, killing the suspect.
No names have been released at this time.
The investigation is ongoing.
NOTE: The information below is preliminary. Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.
Well, the “Sgt.” just got charged with Manslaughter(I think that’s correct).
Throws a different spin on things related to the case.
My Prayers to The Family of the Deceased.
The cop was doing what he is trained to do PROTECT AND SERVE. Even on there off time they keep a eye out for thugs. You might need to change tour name ” tired of the thuggs”. I like Jamie tell how it’s. keep up the good work!!!!!
First off the suspect got what was coming to him/her. If u want something get out and get a JOB to pay for it. Second Thank You to the Off-Duty Officer for stepping up and taking another THUG off the streets with just ONE shot. Third off noone has to read or watch anything bad about there loved one if they would do what is right and not STEAL.
To “tired of the thuggs”
First, the word is “feel” not “fill.”
Second, the truth hurts, but his family knew he was a turd.
The guy is willing to steal from others and then fight a police officer over what he stole; he got what was coming to him.
Had the punk shoplifted a gun instead of marshmallows any eventual outcome would have begun on an even playing field. But for my money, any time The Badge gets to go home is a great day in America.
Teach the young people to do right and you don’t have to worry about it. I’m proud every time I see my nieces and nephews in the paper, because of what they accomplish in sports and community service.
Oh geez.. The kid wasn’t black was he?? Wouldn’t surprise me.. But If he was, this will make news across the nation..
You tell him Jamie !!!!
People shouldn’t take things that don’t belong to them. Get a damn job and buy what you need. It winds up costing us, paying customers, more in the long run because the stores have to make up that financial loss somewhere!!
I REALLY FILL SO SAD FOR THE FAMILY’S THAT HAVE TO SEE THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS IN PAPERS ON THE T.V. NEWS CHANNELS AND THEY HAVE NO REMORSE FOR WHAT THEY HAVE DONE AND THE FAMILY MEMBERS HAVE TO HEAR AND READ ALL THE NASTY COMMENTS OTHERS CAN MAKE.
Technically, they don’t “have” to read or watch any of it.
