Close to 4am Monday morning Conroe Police responded to the Tall Timbers Apartments on 7th near Silverdale for a disturbance with weapons. They were unable to locate it or the individual involved. Almost two hours later they again went to the complex for a criminal trespass involving the individual they were looking for on the earlier call. They located the suspect. The suspect fled on foot and officers went after him. During the foot pursuit the suspect stopped , turned and fired multiple rounds at the officer. The officers did not return fire. The officers then re-engaged the foot chase but lost the suspect. Moments later they learned he had fled to apartment 420. SWAT was requested to the scene . The suspect barricaded himself inside and would not respond to SWAT negotiators. Close to 9am SWAT using flash bangs and gas entered the apartment and took the suspect into custody. He is identified as Terrance Xavier Smith, age 24. He has been taken into custody and charges are pending.
Smith was last arrested by Conroe police on June 23, 2013 on a open warrant from El Paso for possession of marijuana less than 5 pounds but greater than 4 ounces that warranted a $50,000 bond. He had been arrested there on March 28, 2013 but released on bond. As he was being booked in he was charged with bringing a prohibited substance into a correctional facility. He received 30 days in jail in both jurisdictions.
