The San Jacinto River Authority continues to closely monitor the National Weather Service’s Gulf Coast forecast. The potential for heavy rainfall has significantly decreased. The Lake Conroe watershed received an average of 5.4 inches of rainfall over the past two days. The current forecast calls for less than an inch of rain for the remainder of this event.
SJRA manages Lake Conroe storm releases any time the normal “full” level exceeds 201 ft. above mean sea level (msl). Lake Conroe was able to capture most of the rainfall over the last two days and as a result of the flows being captured, has risen to a current level of 202.56’ msl, which is approximately 18 inches over the normal “full” level.
Modest storm releases are occurring and will continue as storm operations protocols are followed until the lake returns back to 201 ft. msl. Our operators continue our 24/7 inclement weather protocols and will remain on duty throughout the hazardous weather threat to monitor conditions.
We are in communication with the National Weather Service, Coastal Water Authority, and local offices of emergency management.
