Skipping school and stealing from you!

EAST MONTGOMERY COUNTY- Residents in the Security area will be glad to learn the Pct. 4 Constable’s Office recently arrested several people, some of whom are juveniles believed to be responsible for an increase in burglaries in that area.

Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden said deputies were patrolling during school hours when they noticed three juveniles walking on Old Highway 105. The deputies stopped the juveniles and found two of them were listed as runaways and one was in possession of a stolen handgun.

Further investigation pointed to the trio as suspects in multiple area burglaries. They face several charges including possession of stolen property, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace James Metts signed a search warrant for a related residence on S. Duck Creek Road, where deputies found stolen merchandise, which included more firearms. Three people were subsequently arrested on outstanding warrants including possession of a controlled substance and felon in possession of a firearm.

Hayden called the incident a “perfect example” of the reason Judge Metts recently held 21 truant juveniles in contempt of court.

“This is what can happen when juveniles are truant from school,” Hayden said.

The investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected.
