A cold front is expected to approach SE Texas overnight and into the early part of Monday. As the front reaches our area, it is expected to trigger scattered showers and storms, some of which could become strong to severe. The risk for severe storms will generally increase the farther north you are from the coast, with the Storm Prediction Center including the Brazos Valley and Piney Woods within a Slight Risk (level 2/5) area in its most recent update. Areas further south, down to the northern fringes of the Houston metro, are within a Marginal Risk area (level 1/5). The primary risk with any strong storms will be the potential for hail and strong wind gusts. An isolated tornado is not likely but cannot fully be ruled out.
