Alert: High temperatures along and north of Interstate 10 are expected to
range from 100 to 104 degrees while readings to the south are
expected to peak in the mid to upper 90s today. This should produce
heat index values from 102 to 107 degrees for much of the area this

cautious with any activities during the day into the early evening.
Heat-related illnesses and deaths are preventable, and all heat
safety precautions should be taken even if there is no heat advisory
in effect. Stay in air-conditioned locations as much as possible,
and wear light-colored, lightweight, and loose-fitting clothes. If
outdoors, avoid strenuous activity and stay hydrated by drinking
plenty of water. Take frequent breaks from the heat.
Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles as interior
temperatures can reach lethal levels in just a matter of minutes.
Similar conditions are currently anticipated for Thursday before
storms move into the area.
