Many times people look at a crash and think the vehicles were doing excessive speed for the damage.
Stuntbusters, a show on Speed TV, set out to put a recent IIHS video to the test. The video in question showed an offset frontal crash of a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air into a 2009 Chevy Malibu, which the Bel Air did not take very well. IIHS taped the crash for its fiftieth anniversary to show how far automotive safety technology has come in the past half-century.
In order to "explore motoring myths behind the latest automotive technology," which Stuntbusters claims to do, a similar experiment involving a 1962 Sedan de Ville and a 2002 Deville was executed. Which of the two fared better in the accident? Check out the video to see.
