CLEVELAND, TX- On Thursday, around 1:15 p.m. Cleveland Police Officer Crisanto was conducting traffic enforcement in the 900 block of Hwy 59 southbound, using his radar, when he saw a 2022 blue GMC pickup traveling at a high rate of speed.
Officer Crisanto initiated a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, 54-year-old Lloyd Anthony Dotson Jr., of Zavala. While speaking with Dotson, Officer Crisanto detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle. The Officer initiated a probable cause search and allegedly found a white box in the center console containing marijuana.  A pill bottle containing a marijuana was also allegedly found inside the vehicle, along with a 9mm Ruger handgun.
Dotson was transported to the Cleveland Police Department for booking. The marijuana weighed about .06 oz.
Lloyd Dotson, Jr. is charged with class A misdemeanor Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and class B misdemeanor, Possession of Marijuana less than 2 oz.
Dotson was later transported to the Liberty County Jail in Liberty.
