(January 6, 2017) Speedsportz Racing Park, a high speed European-style outdoor karting facility located at the Grand Texas Sports and Entertainment District in New Caney, hosted the directors of the East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID) Wednesday, January 4. The tour and opportunity to race karts followed a successful soft opening of Speedsportz’s half-mile concession rental track on December 26.
“We’ve had a really good turnout of people here since opening, and we couldn’t be happier with the potential for long-term success here,” said Alan Rudolph, co-owner and President/Operations Manager of the park and the Alan Rudolph Racing Academy.
About 1,000 people came to the park during opening week to race laps. One race, which is 10 minutes, is $25. Multi-race packages start at $45. Participants must be at least 12 years old and 55” tall.
“This will be an awesome addition to the growing amenities in East Montgomery County,” said Frank McCrady, President and CEO of EMCID. “We appreciate Alan and his effort to bring a venue of this quality to our community.”
Still under construction is the main park building where the public will enter, register and pay for races. It will include a gaming area, restroom and locker facilities, a training/instruction room, and a hall for group or corporate events. A race track viewing deck is also included.
A separate .8-mile performance track and facility is under construction as well. These areas will be utilized by professional karters and those enrolled in the racing academy.
A grand opening for the entire park is scheduled for April.
