Just after 4 pm Friday, a Splendora Police Interdiction Unit attempted to stop a Toyota 4-Runner for speeding. As he activated his emergency lights the vehicle accelerated to over 120 MPH. Cleveland Police assisted. The chase continued north as the suspects passed 18-wheelers on the shoulder. They exited Shepherd and ran north on Loop 424 through Shepherd to FM 223 where they turned east and started throwing drugs out of the vehicle, They continued under the freeway and continued east. Running around curves and head-on at vehicles he continued to FM 787. At FM 787 the driver was nearly t-boned by a vehicle before he turned east on FM 787 almost wrecking in the ditch. Traveling east they continued dumping bags of drugs out the window. As they crossed the Trinity River Bridge the driver clipped the bridge railing and ran off the road crashing down the embankment.
