SPLENDORA KICK-BURGLAR IDENTIFIED

hasselbrind, derrick Liberty County Sheriff’s Office has identified a suspect in at least one of the Splendora area kick-burglaries. Derrick Hasselbring was identified through tips to Crime Stoppers.

Hasselbring is the one that appeared in the security video of one of the six homes in Liberty County near the Montgomery County line that have been broken into. In most of the burglaries guns, jewelry and money has been stolen. All the victims have been older women.

Hasselbring has a lengthy history. In May 2000 he was given one year State Jail for burglary of a building, In September 1991 it was a theft case in Montgomery County that got him in trouble.In April 1998 he was charged with escape and evading arrest in Harris County, He is known to carry a gun and was arrested for that in January 2002. In February 2006 he received another year in State Jail for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in Houston.

Hasselbring, 38, is described as a white male, 6 foot 4, and 185 pounds. He is still considered armed and extremely dangerous and citizens are urged not to attempt to detain or apprehend him.
