Thursday night a Splendora Criminal Interdiction unit conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for traffic violations on I-69 northbound at East River. During the traffic stop the officer had reason to believe criminal activity was taking place and asked for consent to search the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle denied consent. A Splendora Police K9 was deployed on the vehicle and alerted to the odor of narcotics. The Officers searched the vehicle and located approximately 25 grams of crack cocaine and approximately 510 grams of liquid Phencyclidine better known by the street name of PCP. Officers believed the drugs located inside of the vehicle were to be smuggled back across state lines to Louisiana. The driver identified as Timothy Handy, 34, of 1714 Shallowhorne, Mansfield, Louisiana was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail. He has been charged with two counts of Manufacture and Delivery.
