November 15, 2019, Officers with the City of Splendora Police Department observed a truck displaying expired 2017 registration stickers. The officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop when the driver took off. The driver went through numerous yards causing property damage. The chase continued down FM 2090 where it came to an end on Williamson Road. There the stolen truck ran through a fence and almost 200-feet into a pasture. Both occupants fled out of the vehicle into the woods which Splendora officers pursued. The female ran to a nearby home and was given a ride to Dollar General where she was captured. DPS Air was able to spot the male ducked down in a patch of woods. Using a FLIR Camera he was able to direct the Officers and K-9 directly to him. Assisting Splendora on the search was the Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, City of Patton Village Police Dept./Emergency Management, and Texas DPS Air unit, both suspects were taken into custody. Justin Linkey was charged with Felony Evading and Felony Unauthorized Use Of a Motor Vehicle. The female, who was later identified as Kirsten McKenzie Brewton, was transported to the hospital for unrelated medical issues where she was admitted. A warrant for her arrest has been filed.
