Just one day after we decided to start posting our military hero’s lost fighting for out freedom it gets closer to home.
The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine Lance Cpl. Shane R. Martin, 23, of Spring, Texas, died July 29 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
He joined the Marine Corps in 2007 where he was a light armored vehicle crewman. He had previously deployed to Iraq from September of 2008 to April 2009. His military Awards and Decorations include, the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War onTerrorism Service Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.
