MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX- On Thursday, a Montgomery County Grand Jury handed down a first-degree murder indictment against 24-year-old Miles Joseph Fridrich. He’s alleged to have attacked and murdered Dr. Talat Jehan Khan on October 28, 2023, outside at her apartment complex. Prompt response by Conroe Police led to the swift arrest of Fridrich, within 400 yards of the crime scene.
The Conroe Police Department and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office subsequently investigated the murder more thoroughly and continue to do so. As of this date, investigators have discovered no conclusive evidence of any specific motive for the attack on Dr. Khan. However, the case drew national attention leading news media and various activists to speculate the murder may be related to Dr. Khan being Muslim. Nothing has ever been presented publicly to support that theory.
Miles Joseph Fridrich remains detained in the Montgomery County Jail, where he has been incarcerated since the murder, held on a $500,000 bond. Fridrich’s next court appearance is scheduled for January 29, at 9 a.m., in the 9th District Court.
District Attorney Brett Ligon’s Office assures Montgomery County residents “authorities remain committed to pursuing justice in this case and continuing to explore all aspects of the murder in hopes of shedding light on the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Dr. Khan.”
Prosecutors reiterated that Fridrich is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Mr. Fridrich is represented by attorney Lisa Andrews.
