Agencies in three counties along Hwy 59 worked together Friday to catch a trio who robbed the First State Bank of Shepherd.
San Jacinto County Sheriff James Walters said it was just after 9 a.m. when a black male walked into the bank and robbed it. He was accompanied by another black male and a black female.
Two citizens followed the group when they fled in a vehicle, southbound on Hwy 59. The San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Department gave chase into Liberty County and into the City of Cleveland where the suspects crashed their vehicle, Walters said.
The investigation included the SJCSD, Liberty County Sheriff’s Department, Cleveland Police Department, Texas Ranger Ron Duff, SJC Pct. 2 Constable Tom Yates, the City of Shepherd Police Department and the Montgomery County Pct. 4 Constable’s Office who provided a K-9 Unit for tracking.
Walters said arrests were expected soon.
