Tarkington Volunteer Fire Department is Offering Mouthwatering BBQ & a Live Auction!

Tarkington Volunteer Fire Department (100% volunteers) Annual Fall BBQ & Auction fundraiser is tomorrow, Saturday, September 30. They’ll begin serving barbecue at 10:30 a.m., and the auction is at noon. To-go plates are available, or folks can hang around the fire station and eat, and if they stay until noon, they’ll have a chance to enjoy a live auction!

Credit cards will be accepted at the fire station, and a QR code is available on their Facebook page for those who can’t attend but want to donate.

This year has been especially costly for all the fire departments in southeast Texas, due to the drought. Tarkington VFD is an all-volunteer department, and they’ve had MANY more calls than in previous years, without additional money in the already thinly stretched budget.

Fire Chief Paul Gregory will be on hand for the BBQ & Auction, as always. (He’s held that position since 1995!)
