TEXAS LITTER CONTROL HELPS THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY FOOD BANK BY OFFERING $15 MICROCHIPS IN EXCHANGE FOR PEANUT BUTTER

SPRING, Texas, September 2, 2014–Texas Litter Control has partnered with Montgomery County Food Bank in their mission to feed the needs of hungry kids in our county. TLC is offering to cut the price of our microchips to $15 when you make a donation of 2 jars (14-16 oz.) peanut butter or a $10 dollar monetary donation to the Montgomery County Food Bank.

Why micro-chipping and peanut butter really do go together! In this case at least.  Texas Litter Control wants to get the word out that micro-chipping your pet is just as important as getting their yearly vet check.  According to a study published by The Journal of the American Veterinarian Association the return rate of dogs jumps from 22 percent to 52 percent when micro-chipped and registered. That is a 238 percent increase. For cats the return rate goes from a tragic 2 percent to a whopping 38 percent. That is a 2000 percent increase.

Montgomery County Food Bank’s #1 requested food item is peanut butter. The Buddy Backpack Peanut Butter Drive was designed to help kids get the nutrition they need when resources are unavailable like weekends and school vacations. Research shows that hungry children have a harder time learning in school, shorter attention spans, and suffer more absences due to illness. Partnering with Montgomery County Food Bank gives Texas Litter Control the chance help in the improvement of our community as a whole.

“Micro-chipping alongside spay and neuter is a vital part of ending the suffering of companion animals. This collaboration is a great way to get our message about affordable and proper vet care into the community,” explains Deana Sellens, Executive Director of Texas Litter Control. “Being able to help a fellow non-profit make a difference in our county while helping kids in need is awesome.”
