TEXAS LITTER CONTROL PERFORMED 10,000th SPAY AND NEUTER SURGERY!

SPRING, TEXAS, October 9, 2014, – Texas Litter Control is pleased to announce we have performed our 10,000th spay/neuter surgery on Friday, October 3, 2014.  A male cat named Double Stuff was the lucky little man to be our 10,000th customer.  Texas Litter Control has implemented a cost-effective and high quality solution to the pet overpopulation problem – all delivered through a highly trained and motivated team of animal lovers.   The clinic has produced a positive effect on our community by preventing unwanted litters of animals entering into shelters in Harris, Montgomery and surrounding counties in Texas.

“Upwards of 100,000 unwanted pets are killed annually in our local shelters each year, and intake numbers continue to increase.  This is not rocket science.  We must reduce intake,” explains Deana Sellens, Executive Director of Texas Litter Control.  “The staff joked that they couldn’t believe that we still had animals on the schedule after 10,000 surgeries, but this is no joke.  We need people to understand that that all of the one accidental litters really add up.”

Texas Litter Control is in search of knowledge seekers who are interested in partnering with us to teach and implement spay/neuter in multiple locations around Harris and Montgomery counties.  Strategically placing spay/neuter clinics in empty lots, unused building space and renovated units with access to the highway will further the impact we have in Texas.  Shelters, sanctuaries, veterinarians and rescue groups as a whole understand that No-Birth is the first step to No-Kill so partnering with people in these fields would be a great asset.

Adoption events take place every weekend for Texas Litter Control at the PetSmart at Willowbrook.  In addition, events like the 2014 Pet Fest in Old Town Spring, Kingwood Barktoberfest and more are happening throughout Houston.  The communities in this area and around Houston can be a powerful force in the animal welfare world when educated and motivated to make a difference.  Texas Litter Control is a great option for matching gift programs offered by companies like Hewlett Packard and National Fuel and Gas Company.  Starting a workplace giving campaign at your company is easy and will go a long way in helping Texas Litter Control continue making great strides against pet overpopulation.
