THINGS DON’T GO BETTER WITH COKE!!!

When office manager Brandi Waldrep was told by a firefighter Coke was pulling the machines out of the fire stations she was in disbelief. A driver for Coke – Cola was filling a machine at station 82 in Lone Star Ranch when the driver told an on duty firefighter that they are picking up the machines next week because they were not making any money. Once word got to Brandi she called Mr. Jimmy Rogers marketing development manager and asked him if this was true. Mr. Rodgers told her yes Coke is not making money on two of the machines and throwing out bad product that was out of date, so they have no choice but to pull the machines. Brandi recommended putting fewer products in the machines so they would not have to worry about an expiration date but was told the machines have to be picked up.

Fire Chief Raymond Flannelly said Coke was told from the very beginning that one of these stations was manned by volunteers at night and would not have a high volume of product sales, but at the time the salesman told us it’s nothing to worry about. The other station in Lone Star sells more products because the kids come in from the park behind the station to buy a drink, but apparently not the cash flow Coke is looking for. Flannelly agrees that the sales are down in the summer time most firefighters drink water so they will stay hydrated. Flannelly states he is disappointed that Coke did not speak with them before deciding to pull the machines and it’s all about the money, when we live in a community that relies on volunteers to staff the trucks, Flannelly states we need the volunteers and it’s hard to understand Cokes thinking when these people donate their time to protect their community!
