MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX– Unless someone is brand new to Montgomery County, they’re likely familiar with the name “Hayden”. Those who’ve been around a while definitely know the name. The Hayden surname has locally come to symbolize service to the community, and mostly in the realm of law enforcement.
This week, the 100 Club of Houston recognized the third Hayden law enforcement officer for his excellence! Deputy Josh Hayden, with Pct. 5 Constable Chris Jones’s Office, accepted the award with his dad, Pct. 4 Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden and his brother, Pct. 5 Deputy Jacob Hayden watching. His grandfather, the late Charles Hayden, was also in law enforcement and served as Precinct 4 Constable at one time, and would’ve been immensely proud to see his son and grandsons standing together in uniform. Deputy Hayden’s other brother also chose to be a public servant. Brandon Hayden is a firefighter with East Montgomery County Fire Department. (…and they love him anyway!)
Last year, Jacob Hayden was recognized by the 100 Club and in 2008, Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden, still with MCSO that year, was presented the Life Saving Award by the 100 Club, making Josh Hayden the third Hayden recognized by that respected organization.
Montgomery County Precinct 5 Constable Chris Jones’s Office provided the following information to the 100 Club of Houston, in nominating Deputy Josh Hayden for recognition:
In January 2023, Deputy Josh Hayden found and stopped a vehicle driven by a known gang member and narcotics dealer. He arrested the driver with 163.5 grams of methamphetamine and a gun.Â
In February 2023, Deputy Hayden stopped a vehicle with a passenger who was a known gang member and seized 121.7 grams of methamphetamine that was being transported to Magnolia for distribution. He also arrested the driver for illegally possessing a firearm. The passenger was a major accomplice in transporting narcotics in Magnolia.
In March 2023, Deputy Hayden found and stopped a vehicle driven by a known narcotics dealer. The driver was arrested with 83 grams of methamphetamine. The suspect was arrested and taken off the streets.
In April 2023, Deputy Hayden located and stopped a vehicle in the Montgomery County Precinct 5 area. The driver was arrested with 101 pressed pills containing fentanyl, 12.5 grams of methamphetamine, and two guns. The suspect was arrested for the manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled substance and for possession of two firearms.
In July 2023, Deputy Hayden was a huge help in the execution of a search warrant at a business selling illegal narcotics. Deputy Hayden led a team in securing the location and arresting individuals selling and possessing narcotics. Deputy Hayden helped secure and seize over 160 pounds of illicit drugs and $6218 in cash that was from the selling of those drugs. Deputies Hayden’s efforts were valuable in the success of taking this large amount of illegal drugs off the streets of Montgomery County.
Throughout the year Hayden also located and cleared 131 active fugitive warrants, which subsequently contributed to maintaining zero additions to the most wanted list in Montgomery County Precinct 5.
During the end-of-year holiday months, Deputy Hayden worked with local business chains in an attempt to locate and arrest individuals stealing from these businesses. This was part of a Safe Shopper Program. Deputy Hayden was highly praised by the management of those businesses as he assisted them with the apprehension and arrest of multiple individuals stealing from their stores. His ability to create these relationships with the businesses has helped keep the thefts in these stores down.
One of Deputy Hayden’s biggest accomplishments has been becoming a huge part of the community. He is well known by the citizens of the community and has done a great job providing assistance to everyone he can. This includes his work at the local schools and charities, including S.O.S, a local organization that helps feed and clothe those in need. Deputy Hayden has also cultivated great relationships with other officers in surrounding agencies and assisted them in large investigations and arrests. His efforts have brought a huge boost to the working relationships between those departments and the Precinct 5 Constables Office.
