Starting at 5am the parking lot at Second Baptist Church in Houston began to fill and it continued to overflowing. The church which held 5,000 was over full with more in other annexes, a figure of close to 11,000 was the estimate. Officers came from coast to coast for the service. Governor Abbott also attended. The service lasted almost 3 hours from the beginning, Channel 13 broadcast the service live as did some of the other stations, yet many who wanted to attend could not and others were unable to view the entire service.
