At 2:45 pm a head-on crash closed lanes of SH 242 between Old Houston and FM 1314. A white Ford Escape was traveling eastbound near where the lanes shift in the construction zone. DPS is still trying to determine why he crossed the center line striking a BMW X5 head-on. A third car was involved but only received a small scratch. The male and female from the BMW were transported to Memorial Hermann Woodlands in stable condition. The male in the Escape was transported to Kingwood in critical condition. SH 242 was closed for almost 2-hours as DPS investigated the crash. The old lanes were used to allow one side of traffic at a time to flow. DPS reminds drivers that speed limits through the SH 242 construction area is 45 mph.
