Hwy 242, which connects I-45 and Hwy 59, has extremely heavy traffic right now and it’s moving very slowly. All of the signal lights are dark because of the massive power outage, and that’s causing a lot of confusion at the many major intersections along Hwy 242. Add to that, people were hunkered down for two days and are now getting out of the house, and the result is westbound traffic on Hwy 242 moving at under 10 mph between Stonecrest and I-45.
Editor’s note: Do yourself a favor and avoid major roadways like 242 as much as possible until power is restored. Traffic is moving at a crawl now, but wrecks are bound to happen when people can’t figure out who’s supposed to go next at an intersection. Even when the lights are working, Hwy 242 has a lot of crashes.Â
