Details are still coming in and subject to correction, but at this point it sounds like someone attacked multiple people near the Shiro Grocery Store on Hwy 30. The Grimes County Sheriff’s Office is working to get the nearby suspect into custody. Four medical helicopters were requested and then it was reduced to two after medics evaluated the victims. One victim is classified by EMS as critical. Another reportedly has serious lacerations but is not being called critical. Three ambulances are on location or nearly on location to transport victims to hospitals. Hwy 30 is shut down temporarily in the area of the Shiro Grocery because the suspect is believed to be near there and they don’t know what other weapons may be available where the suspect apparently fled. A landing zone is established for the air ambulances at the Shiro Volunteer Fire Department, which is also very nearby. Radio issues are preventing a clear understanding by Dispatch of how many total patients are in need of transport.
