TRAIN HITS TRUCK IN PORTER

Just after 730am Wednesday morning Porter Fire Department and Montgomery County EMS responded to an accident involving a train.
when they arrived at East Know and Loop 494 they found a one ton pickup owned by LHLC Landscaping and a gooseneck trailer with mulch that was thrown out.
Trooper Martin with DPS was told the truck stopped on the tracks and when they saw the train there was a car in front and a car behind and had nowhere to go When the gates came down the driver Pedro Lopez Rico age 34, his co-workers Rico Lopez and Francisco Rivera tried to move the gates and being unsuccessful cleared from the truck.
Just then the train hit it. There were no injuries and Rico was issued a citation for stopping on the tracks.
It is against the law to park or stop on any railroad tracks. In addition when the crossing lights are flashing even if the gates are up and traffic is clear you must stop and wait for the light to cease operate.
