CONROE- The driver in the Jan. 10 collision that killed five people, was arraigned on Thursday by a visiting judge, in the 9th District Court of Judge Fred Edwards.
Brandon Ferguson, 22, of Magnolia, is currently free on bond. He is charged with five counts of manslaughter and one count of “reckless aggravated assault.”
Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Warren Diepraam will prosecute the case. The case is still in the discovery phase, with a motion hearing set for Nov. 19, and the trial set for Nov. 30. Diepraam said he was pleased with the speed of the process in Ferguson’s case.
“I look forward to prosecuting this case,” he said.
The defense has not requested a plea agreement, Diepraam said.
Ferguson walked into court with a cane, but he was the luckiest one involved in the crash.
