Last nights heavy rain along with the arrival of some of the flood waters from North Texas have created the need for additional releases from the Lake Livingston Dam
Currently the release rate is 59,500 cubic feet per second and some increases may be necessary over the next few days.
Residents living along the river should complete their preparations if they intend to stay in their elevated structures, including making sure they have food, water and other essential supplies.
We do not anticipate homes will be flooded, however,as usual, the roads will remain impassable in most river front subdivisions for quite some time.
Currently the Trinity River is at 28.66 ( flood stage 26 feet ) in Liberty and anticipated to rise to 29.2 by Monday, while at Moss Bluff the current reading is 14.29 (flood stage 12.2 feet ) with anticipated rise to 14.6 by next week.
The Liberty County Office of Emergency Management will update as conditions warrant.
