Tropical Update: Medium Chance of Tropical Formation Early Next Week

We will continue to monitor an area of potential tropical development in the Gulf over the next several days.
The National Hurricane Center has increased the probability of formation of a tropical cyclone near Bay of Campeche to 40 percent.
The environment is conducive for gradual development of a tropical depression or tropical storm late this weekend or early next week.
Models continue to suggest an increase in deeper tropical moisture across the area, resulting in increasing rain chances in SE TX.
While uncertainty on local impacts this far out is high, this system could potentially bring hazardous beach and marine conditions as well as increased rain chances along the coast throughout the week.
Elevated seas, tides and an increased risk of rip currents can be expected along the Upper TX coast.
Coastal areas could see rainfall totals from 4 to 6 inches next week. Keep in mind that rainfall amounts will be highly dependent on the final track and intensity of this system, therefore, confidence in rain totals remains very low given this far out.
