EAST MONTGOMERY COUNTY- A Porter man had unexpected guests in the early hours of Tuesday and wound up in the Montgomery County Jail.
Lt. Mark Seals with the Pct. 4 Constable’s Office said a tip regarding a stolen vehicle led him and Deputies Josh Bergland and Ricky Ford to the home of 41-year-old Michael Ray Guthrie at 20470 Old Sorters Rd.
“We obtained verbal consent to search and discovered a stolen pickup in the suspect’s garage,” Seals said.
When investigators checked the license plate on the 2005 Ford pickup, they found it belonged to another vehicle and had also been reported stolen, he said. The truck was reported stolen on April 29 from a location off of Grogans Mill Road in South Montgomery County. The license plate was reported stolen on May 2 from a 2001 Ford pickup in Humble.
Michael Ray Guthrie was charged with possession of stolen property, a state jail felony.
Guthrie’s arrest was only the latest effort by Constable Kenneth “Rowdy” Hayden’s department, which has become a topic of discussion countywide because of several noteworthy arrests and successful initiatives less than six months into Hayden’s first term.
